UX writing challenge
My solutions for daily UX writing prompts
UX WRITING
Overview
I took part in a two-week UX writing challenge. The scenarios were provided by UX Writing Challenge, a platform that sends daily UX writing prompts for 15 days.
Here are a few of the challenges with the copy I've created. I wanted to make the presentation more visual, so I placed the texts into wireframes using Figma.
Timeline: Autumn 2023
Role: UX writer
Responsibilities: UX writing
Challenge I
For the first challenge scenario, a traveller is in an airport waiting for their flight home. The flight is abruptly cancelled due to bad weather. The challenge was to write a message for the airline app that notified them of the cancellation and told them what they needed to do next.
The maximum length for the copy was: headline 45, body 175, and button(s) 25 characters.
Challenge II
In the second challenge scenario, a user is a working parent and a big sports fan. It's their favourite sports season, but they can no longer attend games. The challenge was to write a promotional screen for an app that lets users choose teams, send game reminders, real-time score updates and highlight-videos.
The maximum length for the copy was: headline 40, body 175, and button(s) 25 characters.
Challenge III
In the third scenario, the user works in graphic design. While they are critiquing a design in a mobile app, their phone abruptly turns off, and they reopen the app when they restart the phone. The challenge was to write a message that the user gets immediately when they open the app. The message should tell them what they need to do to recover their content if they need to do anything.
The maximum length for the copy was: headline 40, body 140, and button(s) 20 characters.
Challenge IV
In this challenge scenario, an elderly user is doing a Google search to find an easy way to buy contact lenses online. The challenge was to write a convincing title and meta description for a website that sells subscription contact lenses delivered to a user every 30 days.
The maximum length for the copy was: title 60 and meta description 160 characters.
